Galatas Residence Renovation

This project is a full renovation of a 120 sq.m. second-floor residence in Galatas, redesigned to create a comfortable and flexible home for a family and their guests. The transformation focused on the kitchen, the living room, the dining area, the master bedroom, and the bathroom, ensuring each space serves a specific purpose while remaining part of a cohesive whole.

The interior is organized around a central courtyard, with the main living volumes facing north. This layout allows the home to transition naturally from spacious, light-filled social areas for entertaining to quiet, intimate corners for daily life. The kitchen and dining area have been reimagined as the heart of the home, balancing functional modern updates with a sense of warmth.

A central spine runs through the length of the house, acting as a channel that brings natural light, the winter sun, and fresh air deep into the rooms. This feature ensures that the living spaces, as well as the private master bedroom and bathroom, remain bright and well-ventilated throughout the year.

The design uses a mix of sustainable, raw materials and refined finishes to create a textured, lived-in feel. As you move through the home, the house reveals itself slowly through the play of light and the variation in room sizes.
